MARCH 2009
MONARCH'S REPORT:
Greetings Prophets,
The Monarch's Ball is coming up on March 7th, if you haven't gotten your tickets yet please contact either myself or Gordy Phillips to get them. It's going to be a lot of fun and there is a big door prize, a 37” LCD TV and you could win it, but only if you're there. The Fraser Downs Horse Races are coming on April 12th; please contact PM Joe Cassidy for more information or for tickets. It's always been a sell out event, so please call early or you might be out of luck.
Spring is almost upon us Prophets, the perfect time to come out to a Grotto meeting if you haven't been to one in awhile. We have accepted two new prophets who are going to be initiated this month, so our meeting is going to be quite entertaining. Also don't forget to wear something green in honour of St. Patrick's Day!
Unfortunately, there is Sadness in the Realm, as I was informed on February 26th that Jack MacLean passed on to the Grand Lodge above. At this time I don't have any information on services or where flowers or donations can be sent, please check our website for more up-to-date details. My sincere condolences to his family, please feel free to call me if there is anything I can help with during this difficult time.
Yours good in good fellowship,
Sam Elkabanny, Monarch

From your editor:
I have included a copy of Jack's obit that appeared in the Sun. This is the first time that I have done this as your editor. He was special to me as a member and PM of Van Zor Grotto, (rough around the edges but a real heart of gold) and if he was your friend, you had a real friend.

DON'T FORGET the MONARCH'S BALL. This is our special event of the year. We have many members up from USA, the Grand Master and his lady Laura will be there. Our Monarch has done a bang-up Job of arranging and keeping the ticket price down. There will be a sit-down dinner and dancing to live music. There's a huge LCD HD TV door prize plus much more. There is Van Zor hospitality and hospitality rooms and most of all a lot of good Fellowship.
Joe Cassidy has the Race-day tickets so be sure to get your tickets now, we have been cut back to 80 tickets and they are going fast, I have 12 tickets myself so hurry hurry. PS we had to change our usual day because it is under new management out there and our usual day was already gone and the only thing available was Easter Sunday, we will get an earlier start next year and get St. Pat's day again
Most of the time you can read the Yapper & Flapper and about any important event or notice on our WEB SITE, it is updated several times a week especially near the end of the month so check it out, what you want to know should be there and if not let me know and I will put it there.
