APRIL 2009
MONARCH'S REPORT
Greetings Prophets,
I would like to give you a warm THANK YOU to all of you that helped with the Monarch's Ball on March 7th. It was a great turn out and a ton of fun. Prophets Grant Thompson, Al Barry, Don Robertson, Dave Dunn, Srivatsen Rangarajan, Derek Oktindsky, Joe Cassidy, Ron Stunden, Jackie James, Gordon Philips , Harry Keith, and Robert Black, as well as the USA Prophet Dody, a special thanks to all of you for helping with setting up for the Ball. It was great that our Grand Master was able to attend, and has sent us a special letter to thank us for the terrific job we did (I will be submitting the letter to our Secretary). At our April meeting we will be initiating two new prophets, please come out as I would like their first meeting to be a good one with lots of Prophets for them to meet. I would like to thank the Ladies of Van Zor, especially my wife Jennifer, Pat Cassidy, Lois Obernauer, Margaret Thompson, Pauline Dunn and Daphne Keith what a team and a good job of the hospitality room and our ball table centers were a hit. I believe the Executive is going to try to book once more at the Abercorn Inn for the 2010 ball but I don't think we will be able to get a block of rooms due to the Olympics, but I'm sure our committee will do their best.
The races are coming April 12, 2009, please get you tickets as soon as possible as there is a tight deadline (please ask Prophet Joe Cassidy for more information or tickets). It will be a good time and we should all be there to raise some money for our Humanitarian Fund and to watch our horse! The Ladies have set their pub night date as May 3rd, please take a note of that as I know originally they were planning for an April date and some of you may have that date written down instead. We are discussing having the Champagne Brunch in May or early June as well, and we are working to finalize the date, let's have a good turn out as I will ensure we have some good door prizes and the food will be excellent as always! I will also be suggesting some outdoor get-togethers for the summer months and would like to organize a committee of prophets to do some visiting to our local Masonic Lodges and recruit some new members to the Grotto and I will do my best to bring a few more Master Masons during the remainder of my term. A special THANK YOU to George Jolly for the work he has been doing with the Eastern Star. We have lots of events that are coming and they will be listed on our web site, which is updated often to include finalized dates, so please visit it to see what's coming up throughout the year.
I hope this edition of the Van Zor Yapper finds all of you in good health and with great happiness. Enjoy your family time this Easter weekend and don't strain yourself eating too many chocolate eggs! Happy Easter everyone!
Yours good in good fellowship,
Sam Elkabanny, Monarch
CHIEF JUSTICE REPORT
Greetings Prophets,
Well the Monarchs Ball seems to have been a success and everyone had a good time. Thanks to the ladies for providing the goodies for the hospitality room. Only thing missing this year, there were only two visitors from across the line.
The Day at the races has not sold as well as other years mostly because we are
having it on Easter Sunday (the only date we could get). However I hope those who have paid and are coming have a good time. There should be about fifty in attendance.
We are having an initiation at our next meeting and hope to see as many as possible there. This is the night the ladies go out to dinner so we should be having our usual “tube steaks”
UPCOMING EVENTS
April 12th - Day at the Races
April 14th - Regular meeting - Initiation
May 3rd - Ladies Pub night.
Yours in Good Fellowship,

From your editor:
I am a bit late getting this issue out, although the Flapper & most of the Yapper have been posted on the Web-site for a week. I have been very busy and my computer was in for repair putting me away behind.
I was unable to get any info on our attendance draw but I do recall that there was no winner so the pot carries over.
Don't forget, the Ladies are putting on a “PUB-NIGHT” at ANAF unit #26, located at 43rd & Fraser St. on May 3rd from 4 to 6 PM, contact Lois Obenauer at 604-433-9600 for tickets and any other information (there is also info in the “Flapper”)
I have received info about the “Annual Supreme Council Session” June 10 -13 2009 regarding registration forms and hotel booking information. Anyone needing any of this info, contact the Secretary or PGM Bob Black or me and we will see to it that you get the forms that you require.
Race-Day has come and gone, the attendance was down do to it being held on Easter weekend. A lot or our regulars were unable get there this year. There is a possibility that we will try to get something going at Hastings Park in the fall. We are also running into problems getting a venue for next years Monarch & Officers Ball in 2010, due to the Olympics happening at our usual event time.
Once again, sorry about the late mail out, it is a case of not enough hours in a day,
PM Grant Thompson, editor
DON'T FORGET THE APRIL 14th MEETING IS AT 7:30 PM
There was $10.00 in the Pyramid draw
Don't know who's name was called
!!! HE WAS NOT THERE SO HE DID NOT WIN !!!
