APRIL 2008
MONARCH'S REPORT
Greetings Prophets:
Well for those of you who were able to attend the Day at the Races and donate money to feed the horses I trust that you had a good day and enjoyed not only the food but the good fellowship as well. We had a very good turn-out of Grotto members and it is our Past Monarch, Joe Cassidy whom we have to thank for that. Joe did a tremendous job in selling the tickets. In fact we were sold out. Thanks Joe for your efforts.
Our next event is the Champagne Brunch which is going to be held at the Marpole Lodge on April 20th. This is a Sunday so parking should not be too much of a problem. Prophet Ed Taychuk is the co-coordinator for this event and we hope to see at least 100 for the Brunch. It runs from 10 am till noon and there are lots of prizes; not to mention the money for the top prize. If you have a prize you wish to donate to this event please see Ed and he will be happy to receive anything you may have.
The ladies of the Grotto have been very busy and at our last meeting presented us with another cheque for $1,000.00. Thank you very much ladies. We certainly appreciate all that you do. At our next meeting the ladies will be going to the restaurant for something to eat while we have the pleasure of enjoying tube steaks. I guess the ladies deserve a treat for all that they do for us.
We were going to discuss the possibility of the Harbour Cruise at our last meeting however some details came forward that we were not aware of and they should be straightened out for our next meeting so we can discuss it then. For those of you who can not attend that meeting the details will be coming in the next months notice. You will also see in this months notice details of a bus trip to the Silver Reef Casino. We will be discussing this at our next meeting also. At date will be coming if there is enough interest and again those details will be coming for those who are unable to attend our next meeting.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as can possibly make it to our next meeting.
SILVER REEF CASINO
Prophets:
It has been suggested to us that we consider a trip to the Silver Reef Casino in Washington. This Casino is about 15 minutes south of the Border and we can get there by bus. This bus will pick us up at various locations and take us the Casino and back to our pick-up point. The cost of the bus is $15.00 per person. This cost also includes a buffet meal at the Casino. You would spend 5 hours at the Casino and then get back on the bus full of food and either rich or poor. At our last meeting 7 Prophets said that they were interested but we would like to know if there are more. If you are interested in this trip of which a date has not yet been determined would you please inform the Grotto by calling either the Monarch or a Grotto Officer. The phone numbers are in the Yapper. The bus schedule is as follows: (subject to change as this is an old schedule). This Schedule may not be the best for us because there are limited pick-up points.

As you can see by the days indicated above we must first determine who wants to go and which is the best pick-up location for those wanting to go. The first question however is who wants to go. If you are interested please let us know. We hope to make a decision at our next meeting.
Yours in Good Fellowship,
MW Bob McSween, Monarch

TREASURER'S REPORT
The Pyramid attendance draw is now $55.00 to the lucky Prophet who is in attendance at the next
meeting when his name is drawn.
Yours fraternally,
PM Ron Stunden, Treas.
From your editor:
First off, we are all happy for Jennifer & Sam, god's gift was a baby girl. I know that mom & dad wanted a girl and they got their wish and Sam's son now has a baby sister. Congratulations from all of us to all of you.
I would like to start to send as many of you as possible, the Yapper & Flapper via e-mail. I can attach everything including all the flyers and hand-outs so you won't miss anything and you would get your mail sooner. This would help to cut the cost of the monthly mail-out especially to our American brothers & sisters. If you would like to receive your Van Zor via e-mail please send me your request and I will put your address in a special mail-out group. Along with this I could send out Grotto event photos and stuff like that which I can't do with the present black & white photo copier.
Our young Ladies of Bethel 40 did fantastically at their Provincial Sessions receiving many, many awards and trophies for the work & hobbies that they do.
The $136.00 50/50 draw that was held at the race track was won by a Mrs. Jill WITIKER, guests of Prophet Murray Moxley. The second prize present was won by the lady bartender. Thank-you to my dear Daughter Wendy, who puts this on for us every year. All in all Van Zor was able to put $670.00 into our Humanitarian Fund along with $136.00 into general revenue.
The Ladies will be heading for a restaurant at the next meeting so us guys will have the usual “Tube Steak Nite,” I hope someone will bring the mustard,
I know that there have been a few reminders sent by our secretary, to some members that may have forgotten to send in the dues. This was not meant to offend anyone and I am sure that you only forgot. I also know that we are very careful with that money that you send us. Van Zor has to pay Supreme the per capita that we owe up front regardless of whether we have collected it or not. So thank you for your consideration.
Don't forget the “CHAMPAGNE BRUNCH” Ed is waiting for your call. I was talking to Bud Thom(no P)son and he has bought 14 tickets for himself and family. Lets do the same and make it a family affair.
PM Grant Thompson, editor

Words of wisdom:
If you don't have a sense of humor, you probably don't have any sense at all.
I am sure there is a lot more wisdom out there, send me something and I will post
it for the rest of the members enjoyment.
