BC Athletes on the National Team

Catherine O'Brien and Laani Uunila (women's team) and Thyren Jacobs (U21) represented Canada at the 2008 World Canoe Polo Championships in Edmonton. 

The women's national team placed 10th at the 2008 World Canoe Polo Championships.  The top ten result means the women will be heading to the 2010 Worlds in Milan, Italy.  Way to go girls!!

Catherine has represented Canada at the World Championships since 1996. At the 2008 Worlds Cat was the top female scorer of the tournament. Cat, is a doctor, doing her residency in BC.	Introduced to canoe polo while studying in New Zealand, Laani has  played for teams in Palmerston North (NZ), Ottawa and Vancouver.  Laani is an avid whitewater kayaker and former sea kayak guide.

G&F Financial Group a supporter of community sport, provided funding to allow Catherine and Laani to attend the 2007 national selection camp.
