We are installing the 40m 5 element beam in the above picture. Our borrowed crane had a lift of 95 ft but we wanted to put the beam on a 100 ft. tower. What we did was install 70 ft of tower, guy it and then put the 40 m beam on the tower. At this point we had the tower at 70 ft. with the beam on top. All the guys were in place.
Next we hooked the crane on the tower at the 55 ft mark, disconnected the guys and raised the tower and antenna up to 65 ft. We then installed a 10 ft. section on the bottom. Then we raised the whole assembly and put another 10 ft of tower on the bottom. We continued to do this until we had 100 ft. of tower installed. We then guyed it permanently. All the transmission lines, rotator, and control lines were previously installed so the job was finished.

Above is the completed installation of the 40m beam. The beam is an OWA on a 60 ft. boom. The 20 inch tower is guyed at two levels. The base of the tower is a pin mount. The tower has a fall arrest system installed.
Above we have the crane positioned besides the 15m tower. The 15m tower is 100 ft. high and will have a 5 element 15m monobander at the top as well as a 4 element Stepper antenna fixed at 60 ft. The transmission lines and rotator were installed while the tower was on the ground. The tower will be guyed at two levels with 5/16 guy wire.
We lifted the tower and top antenna all together as one lift.
Above we show the pin base of the 15m tower. The base is a piece of 3/8 inch steel plate two feet by two feet. This tower has a fall arrest system installed.
The above picture shows the 15m monoband antenna at the top and the Stepper antenna at 60 ft. Once we had the tower up and permanently guyed we turned the top antenna into the horizontal plane. No personnel were on the tower until the permanent guys were in place
The above picture shows us winching the stepper antenna into place. It was easier to do than using the crane. Note the home made capstan winch being used to lift the antenna.
Above is the completed installation of the 15m tower with a 6 element home brew antenna at 100 ft and a 4 element Stepper at 60 ft.
The above picture shows us screwing in a 10 ft anchor. The anchor is 6 inches in diameter and has two screws which results in a 12 inch diameter anchor. We attached the hydraulic motor onto the boom of our trencher machine in order to screw in these anchors.
The above pictures show the screw in anchors all level and in place. The adapters will allow the 72 ft. Trylon tower to fit into place.
Above is the Trylon tower with the 10m and the 6m antennas mounted in the vertical plane. Transmission lines, rotator and control cables have all been installed.
Above we have the base all lined up and ready for the Trylon tower.
Mitch ve6oh and Don ve6jy install the sling just above the center of gravity. Note the extra horizontal braces installed on the tower at the lift location.
Above are the finishing touches being done on the 72 ft Trylon tower supporting the 6 element OWA 10m and the 6m antenna.
Above are the 4 verticals waiting to be installed as a 4 square 80m antenna. The verticals are designed for free standing operation and are 1/4 wavelength in height.
Above is one of the four bases for the 80m verticals. The foundation is concrete and R bar down seven ft. and eight inches in diameter. The verticals are mounted on a piece of insulation on the foundation such that the verticals are isolated from ground.
Above is shown the detail of how the vertical is isolated from the concrete foundation
The four verticals are now in place and just awaiting the installation of the 60 radials per vertical and the four square matching system.
Above is the Log antenna 3.7Mhz - 30Mhz that will in time be put on top of the twin towers. This antenna has a 70 ft. boom and weights 2200 pounds.
Above is a picture of some of the details of the log antenna.
Above is the twin towers that we will be putting up. The reason that it is a twin tower is that the 12 inch diameter mast goes up between the towers and attaches to a rotator at the bottom.
The above pictures shows us removing the 6 inch pipe that we used to support the towers during the lift.
