HF Audio

Here is how I set up the audio chain on my TenTec Jupiter.

A Shure SM58 microphone (shown on left) is mounted on a boom fashioned from an old office lamp.

The microphone feeds a Behringer MX602A mixing board.

The mic audio is now at line level for input to a Behringer DSP1100P Parametric Equalizer, which is mounted in the “Closet Kilowatt” equipment rack.

The enhanced mic audio is passed through a 40dB PAD before being input to the TenTec Jupiter microphone input.

More detailed setup information for my audio chain is available here.

Audio coming from the Jupiter is passed through the DSP1100P before being passed to both the PC sound card input and a domestic stereo amplifier.

The stereo is used to fill the station with received audio while the PC can process digital modes such as PSK31.

With the boom-mounted microphone and a footswitch, I can sit back comfortably for a ragchew, or have both hands free to copy messages.
