THE SURREY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB FIELD DAY 2006

By Fred Orsetti VE7IO

The Surrey ARC is a reuglar participant in Field Day and this year SARC was joined by the Langley ARC at Campbell Valley Regional Park to operate 3A. Many Langley ARC members were on site for the setup, the operation and the take down. The stations were operational for the full 24 hours thanks to the 14 operators from Surrey and Langley ARC's.

The weather could not have been better and even the mosquitoes took time off. The setup went smothly with all stations ready to operate at 1800z. Our three laptops running N3FJP Field Day Network logging performed flawlessly. The computers were networked using the wireless feature in the software which allowed for instantaneous dup checking.

In summary it was a great Field Day and the improved score reflects the teamwork of the Surrey and Langley club members. In addition to an improved score we were able to set up and operate our HF stations without the use of any commercial power. Field Day is a test of amateur radio operators to provide communications under emergency conditions. The objective was accomplished by the team of veteran Surrey and Langley operators supported by several who had been inactive for many years.
