SARC's May 1st Foxhunt started out under overcast and windy skies but by the time the post-event barbeque was finished the sun was shining. The event was organized by Anton VE7SSD of Surrey ARC and Amel VA7KBA of BC RadioSport. The bar was raised again this year with 5 foxes set out in South Surrey's Crescent Park, each transmitting on 146.565 MHz for 1 minute with the sequence repeated at 5 minute intervals. Participants from Surrey, Delta, Burnaby, New Westminster and Vancouver Island competed in 2-person teams or individually, to find as many of the foxes as possible within the 90 minutes allotted. Taking 1st place was Keith VE7MID, 2nd place was John MacConnachie VE7BED, and 3rd place was Elaine Lafontaine VA7MOI. Competitors as well as a number of non-competitors and visitors attended the barbeque afterwards hosted by Surrey ARC, where hamburgers, hotdogs and chicken wings plus salad and dessert were enjoyed by all.
Special thanks are extended to:
