The purposes of the Victoria German from Russia Historical Society are:

to initiate, support, and maintain research into the social, cultural, economic, and genealogical background of individuals, families and groups of Germans from Russia

to establish and maintain a library and documentation relating to the above:

to encourage interest in Germans from Russia and to educate the community at large regarding this heritage:

to join with, or otherwise liaise with, societies with similar aims within the province and elsewhere:

to undertake such services to the members and the community as may be appropriate relative to the purposes enumerated above, or the understanding that an appropriate change may be made for such services.

POSITION VACANT: Editor, Heimweg.

Our Society currently has the Editor of Heimweg position open. This is an exciting, fulfilling position that can be done at home, with input from the Executive and members. the newsletter is published three times a year, and printed and mailed out to members and chapters that we exchange newsletter with. Chapter Story Contest

1. Open to VGRHS members

2. Run from February 1^st to March 31^st, 2008

3. Topic 'I Remember’ - stories from my childhood. Memories from your German Russian parents and grandparents. Tell us what they talked about, what they did and what you remember about them.

4. Length: 500 to 1,000 words

5. Prizes: 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd and Honorable Mention

6. Judges: VGRHS Executive

7. Winning stories will be published in ‘Heimweg’.
