CRC means...

The Christian Reformed Church is a denomination that has about 300,000 members in 1,000 congregations across the United States and Canada.

We call ourselves Christian because we belong to Jesus Christ and want to be his followers. We recognize as fellow-Christians all people who accept the teachings of the Bible as summarized in the Apostle’s Creed.

Reformed because we're part of that historic branch of the Christian church that follows the teachings of 16th-century reformer John Calvin, who struggled to return Christianity to its biblical roots.

Church because God has called us to be a fellowship of his people in the world.

We often call ourselves "the CRC" for short.

Our Beliefs

Biblical Standard
The beliefs and doctrine of the Christian Reformed Church are based on the Holy Bible, God's infallible written Word contained in the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and that it is the supreme and final authority in all matters on which it speaks.

Ecumenical Creeds*
The Christian Reformed Church subscribes to the following creeds:

The Apostles' Creed
Not written by the apostles, but is a brief summary of all their teachings. more>>

The Athanasian Creed
This creed explains the doctrine of the trinity. more>>

The Nicene Creed
A statement of faith. more>>

Positions
Over time, the Christian Reformed Church has clearly stated its position on a variety of contemporary topics. more>>

*Article 9 of the Belgic Confession names three writings, dating from the first centuries of the Christian church, that we willingly accept as creeds: The Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed. The adoption of the Belgic Confession by the synods of the Reformed churches in the Netherlands during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries implicitly approved the three creeds mentioned above. The are all ecumenical (general, universal) because they have been approved and accepted by nearly all Christian churches.
