Music Ministries
Music is an essential part of many ministries in our church.
Worship
Teams
Worship teams, under the guidance of the Worship Director and Worship
Committee, lead the Sunday morning worship service. There are approximately
five worship teams. Practices are usually on Wednesday nights. Jam sessions
are held once a month (usually a Monday night from 7:30-8:30 pm) to
familiarize singers and musicians with new songs. For information on
the teams, auditions, and guidelines, contact the Worship
Director.
Saanich
Peninsula Hospital
Every Sunday of the month there is some kind of “church service”
in the hospital for the benefit of the long-term care patients. Singing
is the most important part of this. Every week one particular church
has its turn. Sometimes there is only one musician and one singer! Our
turn is the first Sunday of the month, and we have been at it for more
than 25 years! Our group does very well in coming out with 15–20
people. This is great – and we wish to thank those singers and
musicians for their efforts. In turn, we often have 20 residents with
thankful faces enjoying this ministry. After the singing, we are offered
coffee and goodies as a ‘thank you’.
The
Oakwood
Those of us who love to sing praises to our God in an informal setting,
get together at the Oakwood (senior's residence - 4535 Viewmont Ave)
every other Wednesday evening from 7-8 pm.
Sometime during the hour, our voices receive a well deserved rest period
while we listen to Jannie play a few beautiful selections on the organ.
This is also very enjoyable!
Afterwards,
good fellowship is shared by all, visitors or residents, while we enjoy
tea, coffee and goodies. Can you think of a better way to spend a Wednesday
