Approval of Section Judges Committee is required for each competition which we intend to offer tests at – Region Championship and Barbara Rasmussen.
Appointment of a “head” test chairperson for each competition. This person will be the communication link for the tests with each competition Chief Referree and the Judges Bureau Chairman (Karen Mallon). A number of assistants should be assigned at a later date.
Tests will be subject to availability of Evaluators/Judges at the requested test level. (V.I. Judges Bureau will not bring in extra Evaluators/Judges to accommodate tests being taken at the Competition). If no Evaluator/Judge is available at required test level then the test will be cancelled and skater so advised but they will not then be able to change the event they have originally registered for. (In other words if someone requests a test at senior bronze and they are currently junior bronze they must skate at senior bronze in competition in order to do test but if test is cancelled they can not then change registration to go back to junior bronze – it will be the risk they take in order to take a test at the competition). Skaters may elect to withdraw the test up to 14 days before the competition, with the understanding that this withdrawal procedure is independent from any competition policy regarding withdrawing from an event. After 14 days no refund under any circumstances.
The test requests, fees and test papers will be collected the by the Head Test Chairperson. The “head” test chairperson will then make up a list of tests requested and forward same to Chief Referee who will create the Judges Schedule – the Chief Referee will make up a schedule for the competition first as a priority and then slot in tests by marking the schedule with a “t” for a judge doing tests.
Single panels for competitive tests are available but only if the person doing the single panel is not required for the Judges panel for the competition the competition has first priority. The Referee of the event should not be asked to single panel a skater as they have too many other responsibilities to ensure the event is running properly. An attempt should be made not to assign test judges to the event immediately following the event in which they have just judged tests to allow for processing of paperwork.
The test evaluator/judges can sit in an area adjacent to the Judges Panel or opposite the panel of judges depending on the layout of each facility being used. But the area should be designated as such so that they Judges know where they are to go and that only designated officials or committee members can be in that area.
Based on the size and length of competition and number of tests, a group of local test chairpersons should be put together to take turns supervising the tests on-site. This group of test chairperson would be responsible for the distribution of test sheets to skaters/coaches, and applicable club designate(s).
A fee of $3.00 for VI Judges Bureau is payable along with the required Skate Canada Test fee.
