Island Scribe April, 2009The Vancouver Island Region would like to thank the Campbell River Skating Club for hosting the Lynn Hetherington Memorial Competition. This was our qualifying event for Pacific STARSkate. Campbell River did an excellent job putting on this huge competition. Also, thank you to the Comox Valley Skating Club for hosting the Barbara Rasmussen Competition. They did a great job as usual. Marilyn Barlow, one of our long time island coaches celebrated her 70th birthday in January. Her family honored her with a ladies’ high tea celebration at the Empress Hotel in Victoria. Congratulations to Debbie Murphy on now being qualified to judge Novice Singles and below. Well done, Debbie!! Also, congratulations to Lynne Henderson-Drake on the arrival of her grandson. Our next event will be our Region AGM on April 5 followed by the Vancouver Island Skate International competition hosted by the Mount Arrowsmith Skating Club in Port Alberni on April 17 – 19.
