NaNoWriMo, The Abridged Version
I had set aside this weekend, basically from noon on Friday to noon on Monday, to blitz my NaNo novel and reach 50,000 words. I scheduled nothing, unplugged the phone, etc... seriously planning to try for 8,000 words a day... and woke up Saturday morning with a migraine that is still with me (gotta love those PMS migraines). So between the fact that I can only stand staring at the computer screen for about 10 minutes at a time, and I have to run to the bathroom every so often to throw up, and I really just want to be lying on my couch in a fetal position feeling sorry for myself... I have a funny feeling that I'm not going to reach 50k this year.
My revised goal is to bring my story to its conclusion. Just write the key scenes that take me from where the story is now to the big climax. Then I can at least say that I have a first draft. Because I do love this story and I do intend to flesh it out into a full length novel in the next few months and I do intend to work on it during NaNoEdMo (in March).
So I figure that my new goal can be accomplished by the 30,000 word mark. I think I can handle that, even if the migraine sticks around until the 30th. So wish me luck. (Now I gotta run... supper isn't sitting so well... food and computer screens... what was I thinking?)
NaNoWriMo Word Count: 25,224 down ~ 4,776 to go (based on revised goal)
