One other dead end path comes from putting palomar as the name of the telescope in room 164.

I followed the palomar route last night, too. I've now updated the post to show that path and the path that drgnmstrshake found (with a fork at 22).
please help... how do I get to 91 from 5? I have had this puzzle sitting on my desk for the last few weeks and I cannot get pass this block.

That's a tricky one. You need to download the image and fiddle with it in Photoshop (or Paint or some similar type of program). I don't remember off hand whether this one required adjusting brightness and contrast or using the magic wand tool (tolerance=0), but one of those should make the alternate answer appear.
