Out 2

For some reason, tonight's episode of Dr. Who kind of reminded me of a point and click game that I played recently. Then I realized that it's been a while since I posted any game hints, so this one's for the game geeks.

Out 2

General Advice:

1. The tab key will not help with pixel hunting for this game but don't worry, the arrow will change when your cursor is on something clickable.
2. Inspect everything you pick up, just in case there is more to it than meets the eye.
3. Don't believe the walkthrough when it says something is useless. Everything you find has a use, even if you can solve it very frustratingly without.

Specific Hints:

1. You need to find something before you can enter the door. But it's very dark and you might not be able to see it well, so just rely on your mouse to find it. And be careful not to fall off the cliff to get it.
2. I recommend checking the doorway after the earthquake to see if you're trapped. There might be more stuff to find in the darkness there.
3. Then you can use what you just found to help get the thing that you can't reach. Did you know that if you touch metal to a magnet, it magnetizes the metal?
4. To pick up the stylus pen after you've made the appropriate contraption, hold your left mouse button down while dragging it over the pen. Once the pen sticks, release your left mouse button. (I had trouble picking up the pen, so if you're as pathetic as me, go to the walkthrough page and click on step 4 for more specific instructions.)
5. Are the elevator buttons working? If not, you might need to redistribute some power.
6. There are times when you might think it's the proximity of the green arrow that makes your cursor clickable, but you might want to examine that theory a little more closely underground.
7. Find somewhere to play your CDs. (And remember the note that you found?) If you need help reading music, check out this site.
8. Now you need to find somewhere to enter the code you just cracked. It doesn't seem to help with anything upstairs...
9. Once you've entered the code, some things that didn't move before should be able to be moved now.
10. Now you can go back to the computer and play with power. It might get a little dark at that point, but you can still use the computer panels (you did check out each of the panels at some point, right? And you paid attention to the various slots and levers?) You can now deal with the flashing error on one of them. And once you have, you can now use something else that didn't seem to do anything before. If you don't know what I'm talking about, turn the lights back on and take another look. And if dragging it down still doesn't do anything, what else could you try?
11. Don't worry about sirens or flashing red lights, just redistribute the power again.
12. You need to collect a couple of things from downstairs now. One of them was available after you shifted the gear levers, one of them just became available after the gears started moving. Now where did you see a place to use that new thing?
13. Now you have the means to access an area that wouldn't open before. You need what's in there. Go put it on.
14. And now let's deal with the other thing you found. To decipher the code, think about the colours on the computer panels and the letters in the words. And where you will be entering this code. If you want more help on this one, click step 14 on the walkthrough.
15. Enter the code and make sure that you get everything out of the box. Make sure you read the instructions. (And this may be obvious but it took me a minute... you need to close the box before you can leave.)
16. Oh hey, I guess it's an emergency now. I wonder if there are some emergency items that I can get that I couldn't before?
17. Okay, now you've got everything, it's time to go up and out the hatch. The next stuff was not remotely intuitive to me, so if these hints aren't sufficient, I suggest checking out steps 17 & 18 in the walkthrough. (a) If you click the suit in your inventory, your right hand will appear on the screen, (b) you should probably turn the infrared camera on, and (c) see that bar on the left of your screen... the one with the T and the W? What happens if you press those letters?
18. Don't fire the rocket launcher until you reach -100 meters and you see a green square on the screen with a "locked on" signal.

Complete walkthrough available here.

I don't think I played the first Out game, so maybe I'll go play it soon and post some hints for that one, too.
