Alberta Politics Suck

More Tories than ever? Are you fracking kidding me?

"Voter turnout Monday hit a new record low" (The Canadian Press)

No sh!t, Sherlock. The conspiracy theorist in me starts to look at the fact that they moved a whole slew of polling stations but didn't bother to send that information out to many of us nor did they publish that information in any of the newspapers (something that used to be standard practice). No, they only posted that information on a website that crashed because of too much traffic yesterday... gee, how could they possibly have predicted the site would get so much traffic on election day?

Are you buying that bullsh!t? Because I'm not.

Politics is the modern-day opiate for the masses: We think we have a choice, and since we only learn what TV has to show us (unless we know how to use the Internet--and bother to), we think evil dogs are nice people.

They want you to blame yourself for not going to the (extra) effort of voting, so you won't think about the marionettes you would have voted for.

It doesn't make sense to vote for the lesser of two evils, though. I will only vote when there is a positive candidate. In that vein, I am now a precinct chair and a precinct delegate, and I campaign for a return to law-abiding politicians, not corrupt law-biting thieves.

I hate politics! Honest intelligent people have no need of it...except when their world is ruled by psychopathic idiots.

Oh, I guess we need it now!

BTW, in English, nothing Limes with Orange. But of course, you're not English...not a Limey. :) Are you the only, um, Orange that's not an Orange? :D You must be green-eyed and red-haired? <---------big stretch-----------> :)

A Limey... LOL

As for politics, too true about those ruling psychopathic idiots...

But I will ALWAYS go to the polls on election day. Since Canada is not a two party system, you always have more than two idiots... er, politicians... to vote for. So if I don't like any of the "viable" candidates, I'll throw a protest vote to one of the smaller parties if I believe in their platform. But if I truly can't find anything that I like about any of the candidates, I'll still go to the polls and simply spoil my ballot. I don't take my right to vote for granted even for a second, so I'm bloody well going to vote. (And vote responsibly, too... I do my research.)

The right to vote is worthless indeed if voters don't do their research, and with the Internet we have a powerful tool. (Let's hope people don't believe everything that gets posted on YouTube! :D ) Politicians' voting records, news items, personal opinions, faux pas...all can be found with all blends of bias.

The same cannot be said for the media, and certainly what comes out of a politician's mouth does not reflect their truths, or often, even their own words or thoughts to any degree! "Polishticians" spend their time "polishing" their image, rather than BEING what they want people to think they are.

That's why I can't support any candidate indicated with favor by the media. I like only two in the US: One a Democrat, one a Republican. Both favor the rule of law, which includes only passing (and enforcing) laws that are legal. One has a long impeccable record as a Texas Representative.

None of the media-proclaimed "leading" candidates can make these claims. It would seem that I would be making a protest vote, but I've taken it further by becoming a delegate, and hope to work my way up the levels to where my vote can make a difference.

After all, the US is not a democracy: It's a republic. We vote for representatives, and hopefully these representatives know what they're doing. The primaries are in effect naught more than a straw poll.

Next term, if we still *have* elections in the US, I may run for president myself. :) I'll blog on it for a while, and see if people are as concerned as I am...
