The Flip Side
After yesterday's rant, I thought I'd like to address the flip side: the people who didn't make my holidays miserable. Thank you to those of you who gave me space to grieve and didn't expect me to be in the holiday spirit. Thank you to the people who did pick up prescriptions for me or take me grocery shopping and didn't make me feel like I was a bothersome inconvenience. Thank you to the people who listened and didn't try to "fix" me. Thank you to the people who didn't get defensive about my bad moods because they knew they weren't about them. And thank you to everyone who accepts that my bad moods are not particularly gracious (but at least they don't last long!).
So I hope that balances out yesterday's post and people don't think that every person I know made me miserable these holidays. Mostly I think I'm pretty good at choosing my friends. Trying times like these highlight the fact that my judgement is far from infallible, but mostly I like the lot of you.

I'm glad you wrote a "flip side." It's easy to resent people and things, but important to do a gratitude list, too. I wish you better health in 2009. xxoo
