When dealing with a mortgage broker, there aren't any fees charged to you as our client, as a professional mortgage specialist we are paid a finders fee by our lenders.
When dealing with a "mobile mortgage specialist" from the big banks, they are paid by selling the banks' products and are locked into their banks' rates, when you deal with an independant mortgage professional, we deal with many lenders, getting you the best rates possible.
When you deal independently with your bank, the bank MUST check your credit score, as soon as they check, that is a "hit" on your credit score. Everytime you shop around for the best rate, that is another hit. Soon other banks will assume that you are a bad credit risk.

About Me
Hi, I’m Scott Ko and I’m a Mortgage Broker. My job is to help you to save money when you take out a mortgage, refinance or renew an existing one. But before you engage my services, maybe you’d like to know a little more about me and why I’m doing this.
I’ve lived in metro Vancouver, British Columbia all my life. It’s where I’ve been a business professional for 30 years. My wife works in the hotel industry and our son Ethyn works at going to school. When my wife and I bought a new home a few years ago, we did what most people do: went to our bank and got a mortgage at the rate and on the terms they dictated. Later, we learned if we’d gotten our mortgage through a mortgage broker, we could probably have saved ourselves a considerable amount of money. So I looked into what mortgage brokers do and how they do it and I liked what I saw.
I became an Accredited Mortgage Professional and joined Centum Pacific Mortgages, an independently owned and operated firm of mortgage brokers in Vancouver, as a Vancouver mortgage broker it is my job to meet with clients or potential clients at their convenience, I learn your needs, your expectations, and the financial details I need to know to help you. I explain any part of the process of getting a mortgage you want explained. Then I go to work.
As a mortgage broker, I can offer you over 300 products from more than 30 lending institutions. You can probably imagine how long it would take you to do the research on that many options. I have it at my fingertips.
