2011 NAVHDA test weekend another successful event. The Wild Rose Chapter thanks all the volunteers who contributed their time to planning this weekend as well as the many volunteers who worked tirelessly on the test days to keep things running smoothly. And many thanks to our fantastic judging team.

Wild Rose training days are finished for 2011. Training days will resume in April 2012. The announcement for the Annual General Meeting will be posted here early in 2012.

What is Wild Rose NAVHDA?

Wild Rose, a sanctioned local chapter of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association, was founded in 2003 and comprises members throughout the province of Alberta.

The North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA) is a legally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering, improving, promoting, and protecting the versatile hunting dog in North America. Watch the NAVHDA video.

What do we do?

Alberta’s Wild Rose chapter is a small but vigorous group of versatile breed owners dedicated to honing the natural abilities of our dogs as well as increasing the training knowledge and skills of ourselves as dog handlers in order to develop excellent hunter and hunting dog teams. Our goal is to help our members become better handlers and to fully realize the potential of our versatile hunting dogs.

The chapter organizes training sessions and sponsors NAVHDA tests. We also provide a forum to share our challenges, knowledge and experiences and to strike up local training partnerships to allow us to become better dog handlers and trainers. Wild Rose has a wide mix of breeds currently represented in our chapter: English Setter, German Shorthaired Pointer, German Wirehaired Pointer, Brittany Spaniel, Large Munsterlander, Pudelpointer, Vizsla, Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, and Weimaraner.
