Andreas is a drummer, audio artist and sound designer, with a particular interest in improvisation, Gamelan and acoustic ecology. He began musical training at the age of eight with the Stuttgarter Hymnus Chorknaben under Prof. Gerhard Wilhelm, studied and attended intensives with a range of composers and instrumental teachers, including German Jazz drummer Hannes Clauss, Glen Velez, Steve Lacy, Pauline Oliveros, Trishy Shankaran, Karl Berger, I Nyoman Wenten and Gamelan master KRT Wasitudiningrat.

As a percussionist and improviser, Andreas has performed in jazz, new music, and world music festivals across Canada and the U.S. He was a member of the New Orchestra Workshop, co-founded the improvising ensemble Hextremities, and has performed and recorded with a wide range of jazz, new music and world music ensembles, improvising collectives, swing, folk and blues bands.

He has been commissioned to create sound scores for theatre, dance and new media projects, and has collaborated on numerous audio art projects, including UnderWater a commission with Darren Copeland for Deutschlandradio Kultur, Berlin, the audio art series Wireless Graffiti for Vancouver Co-operative Radio, and Silence Descends with the Western Front. As a sound designer he has worked with many Vancouver theatre, dance companies, worked on feature film and video projects, and several projects with Electronic Arts.
