The line
of ceramic wall clocks started its life at around February 2003 as a proposition
of five different faces.
The Udu
drum is a pot drum made of clay and played with either the hand or a foam
paddle. It has derived from a carrying water vessel into a percussion
instrument after a side hole was added.
The Udu
clock is an adaptation of the pot-drum. While the hole in the Udu drum
is used for sound, in the clock it serves to show the hour, thus "ringing
a bell" to chime clocks. The link between the two objects is also kept
by the choice of ceramics for the clock's construction.
