CuP-3Bo
starts on the wheel to be trimmed into an unfooted bowl that would be
cut into three pieces. Variations result from details such as depth and
curve of original bowl, amount of material cut, as well as glazing and
glazing technique.

Mass
produced ceramics (slip casting) introduced industrial design to me. The
process of production in molds can have qualities of its own. It is not
as sensual as working on the wheel, yet detaching a fresh shell from its
creation bed gives a feeling of new life if not birth.
Wheel throwing can be a demanding way of having fun. It requires a degree
of skill that can be frustrating at times. Never the less, it is a good
starting point for developing forms in new directions through working
with the material.
My efforts are put into combining the elegance of pottery and streamlining
of design.
