Just getting started.

A poor choice!

I'm a sucker for a forest canopy shot!

Seven.

Homeboys in da woodz

It was very misty starting around halfway. Flash was useless!

Red bandana is checking his stocks one last time before he's out of range.

Pretty ravine!

The ropes really helped tone down the death.

A peek at the watershed through the trees

The sweat says it all. Great - only 1/4 of eternity left to climb

I was only stopping to take pictures, not because I was an inch away from keeling over or anything...

Another climber taking a picture break...

This IS the Grouse Grind - logs, logs, dirt, and mud, at a 45-degree angle to keep it interesting

Summit! We co-opted a trio of young Japanese to take our picture, then I obliged them by taking multiple pics of their party with all three of their cameras.

Beer to the rescue!

Chowdown time! Everybody was pretty much ready to eat their shoes at this point.

West Van close to sunset

Downtown and Stanley Park

Capilano watershed and West Van

West arm of the watershed

The small gondola approaching (big one was out for repairs - more on this later)

Self portrait - we were too lazy to get someone else to take pic

Docking

My neighbourhood! Tim gave me great suggestion of taking pic through his binoculars. It works!

Downtown thru binoculars. You gotta love this poor-man's-telephoto trick!

Sunset in North Van

Sunset in West Van. ;)

Sexy, romantic, thru-binocular sunset closeup. Oh yeah.

Grinder and Coola the Grouse grizzlies

Awwww! Grizzlies are so cute when there's 10,000 Volts between you!

Grinder has a reputation of being a pose-whore

Coola was having a very... laid back day.

Look at those goddamn claws.

Grinder - cutie pie and crowd favorite

Grinder got really close to the fence so kids parents and Bri all stampeded over

Grinder poses on rock while Coola sulks by pond

The money shot!

These bad-boys are 600 Lbs each. Cutest death-machines in BC!

Coola sippin' from the source

Rehydrating w/ a few cold ones

Goddammit, Tim!

My head! Lean forward next time, Derek.

Ok, of all weeks to do the grind, we pick the week when they're doing routine annual maintainance on the @$?!! main gondola. 1+ hour waits to go down.

The clearest shot I could get of the city lights as we descended in the (scary) service lift.
