Who else has keys?
Was the premises re-keyed or key's changed before you moved in?

Likely not...
It may not be as secure as you might think!


I have read about other locksmiths that have attended calls where a home in a new development had been broken into.
There were no obvious signs of a break-in.
When the door locks were disassembled the front door lock was found to be master pinned.
Master Pins allow more than one key to operate the lock.
It was surmised that a key was used to gain entry.

When a builder develops a new sub division, they often have the front door of every house master keyed.
The master key is given to their Contractors and Sub-Contractors to gain entry to most front doors in the new development.
Developers have these locks master keyed so that they only have to keep track of a ONE key.
Convenient for them, but not so safe for the new homeowners if they were not changed or re-keyed.

These keys DO get lost or sometimes just DO NOT get turned back in.
Sometimes, they don't get re-keyed or key's changed either....
The locks NOT being re-keyed or key's changed is often the case for most rentals as well.


Here's some professional advice...

When you take possession of a rental, commercial space or a new home anywhere,
have your locks re-keyed or key's changed by a Professional Locksmith.
Keep your family and hard earned property safe.
