The death of a loved one is a time:
- To recall the miracle of life
- To give thanks for the life
- To mourn the loss
Empowered by Christ’s promise of the resurrection, the church faces the event of death, consoles the bereaved, celebrates the life of the deceased and offers thanks to God. In a Christian funeral, the promise of hope is to be proclaimed: “in life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone.”
Such a service can be variously called “a funeral”, “a memorial”, or a “celebration of life.” For simplicity, we use the term “funeral.”
The church sanctuary can hold upwards of 126 adults comfortably, and with chairs we can accommodate upwards of 200 adults.
The Edson Funeral Home, and one of its funeral directors, will help you to complete necessary arrangements, any required paperwork, and offer you choices to help celebrate and honour your loved one. Contacting the funeral home is your first step.
If you want the church to help you celebrate your loved one's life, you can Rev. Kent Horsman at 723-3418 to set up a time to discuss service options. For your convenience, you can download this document that conveniently outlines what happens in a funeral service, and includes helpful points for planning.
