Light Pollution Success Stories

Light Pollution Featured in School Science Fair

Ontario Grade 5 student wins gold medal at local science fair, and then takes another award in regional fair. Congratulations on a job well done!

"I learned a lot about how light pollution affects everyone, especially astronomers and even birds and migrating turtles. Because a lack of awareness rather than resistance is more the cause of light pollution, the goal of this project was to prove that light pollution existed, how i how it can be minimized and to educate others. I think communities should pass by-laws to protect against light pollution and I hope in the near future that old, 'bad' outdoor lighting fixtures will be retrofitted or replaced to minimize light pollution and that 'good' fixtures will be used in new construction."

If any of you have other stories about successful light Pollution abatement, education, presentations, etc. That you would like to share please let me know.
