Instrument of Repentance The second book in the series dealing with the exploits of Colonel McCalister and his international team of ruffians. These men and women have, in each case, been dealt with in the most disgusting manner by their own governments for taking a stand against political expediency, duplicitous diplomacy and the self interest of their political masters or their close confidants.The Colonel has brought together a hard boiled crew who understand the pain and frustration of the common man when dealing with the insensitivity of systems, be they legal or political. A celebratory meal for the Colonel, his daughter McCalister and her husband Barlow, at a plush Ottawa restaurant, ends in mayhem, when possibly the world's most savage terrorist group rakes the guests with fully automatic fire. An English 'country squire' is soon seen meeting with the accountant/business manager for the international biker gang, Hell's Crew. In Peru, the Head of National Security meets with the Supreme Judge of the military court to discuss the preponderance of high class ladies of easy virtue carrying Canadian passports, while in Victoria, BC two senior elected representatives of the British Columbian government parley their positions of authority into multi-million dollar personal fortunes. Meanwhile the sociopathic right-hand-man to the leader of a Chinese Triad is acting above his station, intertwining Governments in circumstances that could lead to catastrophic consequences internationally. Add a back-plot of double dealing international arms smugglers, internet paedophilia and drug traffikers with connections to the US government and a stinking mess of political corruption and you enter the Colonel's world. JTF-2 are rolling again, protecting not only Canada's democratic processes, but those most vulnerable in a world order where the terms; honour, duty, code, decency and moral rectitude are spit upon. Law is what you have when you can't get justice. When you want justice the Colonel and his team hear the cry of the hapless, the helpless and the hopeless. Responsible directly to the Canadian Prime Minister, and self-directing once launched, JTF-2 are an implacable enemy. They have little respect for persons or personages, their only rule being that collateral damage is not tollerated. There are no other rules of engagement. They can be both ruthless and compassionate, qualities often seen as contradictory by those who live in the safe world which is the result of their sacrifice. To many they are anathma, yet, to those whose lives they touch directly, they are a source of timely physical succour, emotional release and the beginings of closure. |
My Enemies' Enemies Dare I use the term " plot?" In Baghdad a man sits and makes a note in red ink on a calendar, 28. In Britain the Prime Minister forces Ministers at a COBRA meeting to sign the Official Secrets Act as Britain prepares to retaliate to a massive attack in its oil and gas fields that resulted in over 600 men being roasted alive. The Country is in Defence of the Realm. In the USA the President has become effectively isolated from both Houses. A group of US home-grown subversives and traitors are pushing him into war on three fronts. The USA is under biological attack from Saddam. Who can he trust? Where can he get help? This is way beyond Clear and Present Danger. In France the French are being the French, self first, self last, any over, self again. In Russia the President is dealing with Organized Crime-the Mafiyas- and a newly grown bourgeoisie busy selling Weapons of Mass Destruction to the Muslims in the South. The Rodina is rapidly approaching bankruptcy and a threat to its being. Who attacks the Motherland with impunity? And who really cares about what the hell is going on in Norway? Well somebody does and this is about to be Norway's finest hour. Why does the Canadian PM Tom Skerrit call them, "insubordinate sobs" while smiling? Why are JTF-2 so highly regarded across the world's intelligence communities? For other readers: Who are they?-----What are they?-----How do they fit together?----Why would they fit together? This book was written in 1999. For some reason publishers in the States were warned off. Then came 9/11. Then it was "too close to the American people's heart," Then it was "too political," then it was "too long", then it was, " the only problem is that it is not written by someone who is known." (this latter from one of the USA's top agencies). Yet critics have said, "Grrr...eat book," .. "If you actually think of the scenario ...its frightening" . "Is it fact or fiction?" "Might be considered prophetic" . "Why isn't it in print yet?" Then we get to the real questions and comments from professional associates, "Why are they stopping it?" "Jeeze isn't that near the truth?" .. "Those GIA bastards actually did that!!" .. "Hell half of this is straight from the field That's why they won't let it get published." L'Anglais says nothing. You decide what is fact and what is fiction; and if its fiction, how much of it is fact? |
