Grande Cache is nestled on the side of Grande Mountain. We have one of the most scenic golf courses in the area, located just to the east of town a little further up the side of Grande Mountain. We are located 190 km south of Grande Prairie, Alberta and about 140 km north of Hinton, Alberta, right in the heart of the mountains on Highway 40, known as the Bighorn Highway. Our elevation is 1,280m (4,200 ft). 

The town is built on a plateau that is just below the subalpine level of the Rocky Mountains. The town site is surrounded by three valleys: to the north is the Smoky River; to the west is the Sulphur River; to the south is Victor Lake and Grande Cache Lake. To the east of town is Grande Mountain.
