The Hardisty Ski and Board Club

The 2003 - 2004 season has again arrived, and we made it on the hill for the season at a decent time. This year, our coaches are Carol MacRae, Brian Bakewell, and Jocelyn Schmutz. We are also happy to have some of our parents and older racers help along at times, as needed. We did lose one coach, though, as Marsella's family has other commitments that prevents them from skiing on our regular training day. Don Oneil is still working at Banff, with Club Ski Our club membership is about the same, as we did lose a couple racers, but gained some also. We wish our past racer all the best, and welcome our new racers!

This year, we are again skiing at the Valley Ski Club facility in Alliance, Alberta. We were hoping to return to Hardisty, but things again worked against us. We are happy, though, to ski out of Alliance, and they are again glad to host our club, along with their own NGSL club. We again ski Sundays, but extended our on hill time. I think it is working well, and everyone seems happy with the arrangement.

Our 2003 - 2004 schedule is as follows.
  • January 17, 2004, Alliance, hosted by the Hardisty Ski and Board Club
  • january 31, 2004, Alliance, hosted by the Valley Ski Club
  • March 6, 2004, Drumheller, hosted by the Hoodoo Hoppers Ski Club
For families interested in something different, the Jasper Junior Olympics are scheduled for the weekend of February 28 - 29, 2004 at Marmot Basin Ski Area. Last year, we had five racers go, and it was a truly great weekend. The kids can enjoy the experience of "Mountain Racing" while the race scheduling allows for plenty of Family skiing afterwards also. If this sounds interesting, you should book rooms soon, as this is a busy weekend at Marmot, and rooms can be a problem if left till the last minute. Also, on this weekend, the JJO's also hold E.C. races at the same time, although the weekend is primarily set aside as a NGSL weekend. As a side note to this race, the cost is reasonable, at $40 per racer, which encompasses both days racing. Also, Marmot does discount lift tickets for the racers to help as well.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us for more info.

Well, that about covers it for now, check back in case other information is posted here, and be sure to check out our race results as they are posted.
