Jasper Junior Olymipcs 2002 Race Results

This year, to end the season, we decided to head to Jasper, to attend the Jasper Junior Olympics. This turned out to be an awesome weekend, and I do recommend that anyone in the club give it a try. The whole idea behind the JJOs is to give racers, that don't regularly have the opportunity, a taste of big mountain races. The rules are set so that no one DNQs, although a botched run would take a racer out of contention for winning. The race was a timed single modified GS, with the best run counting. DNQed runs aren't removed, but are dropped to the second half of the run times. And Sunday was a timed Dual modified GS team event, with the teams times "pro-rated" to allow teams of different sizes to compete against one another. This turned out to be awesome, with our small Hardisty representation taking home first in the team event with only Kristen and Josh racing! Cool or what! Way to go Kristen and Josh!! Jacey (from Alliance but racing with us at the JJOs) also did great, taking home a ribbon on Saturday!
