What is the Strategy?

Tests, exams & quizzes test two things:
1. How much you know about the content of the course.
2. How effective you can write tests (test taking skills).

SCORER is a strategy that helps you develop your test taking skills.

Guided Practice
Print out the SCORER One Page Handout and go through each of the steps as you do your homework or an assignment. Do this will a number of a assignments and homework to feel more comfortable with the steps.

Apply the Strategy

Continue to practice SCORER on assignments and homework to know the steps. Then use SCORER on quizzes and tests. Try to use each step to get the maximum benefit from the strategy.

Summarize the Strategy

To summarize the strategy, draw three columns on a sheet of paper and title the columns:
1. What steps do I already do on tests?
2. What steps from SCORER will I use on my next test of exam?
3. What steps in SCORER do I not understand and need more help with?
