n 2005, the Institute of Liberal Education will be established in Canada as an independent, not-for-profit, charitable organization.

The overall aim of the Institute is to enrich contemporary educational practice by reintroducing the theory and practice of a liberal education into a grade school environment.

The Institute’s current focus is to determine how best to understand and deliver a liberal education at the middle school and high school level.

The Institute will pursue its purposes by:

  • Conducting and\or sponsoring curriculum development and research projects that contribute to a better understanding and delivery of liberal education

  • Creating, developing and\or sponsoring schools and school programs that cultivate the ideals of a liberal education

  • Creating, developing and\or sponsoring professional development and staff development programs aimed at training educational professionals about the theory and practice of a liberal education;

  • Fostering communication regarding the theory & practice of a liberal education amongst the educational community at large
